In 2010, Olivier Cote was crowned IAME Cup Champion at the Point Pelee Kart Club. By capturing numerous wins and becoming the IAME Cup Champion in the region, Oliver was awarded a trip to compete in one of the largest races in the Pacific North West at the brand new SIMA Kart racing facility. Dale Cook of Windsor Racing Academy commented, “I am very happy we can offer this opportunity to my customers. Olivier has done a great job and I was so happy he was able to compete against some of North America’s best drivers. Placing 6th was a great accomplishment for him since he was stacked up to some pretty steep competition. I have to also thank IAME and Italian Motors for making this possible”.
Cote raced in the North West Gold Cup in the 20 kart IAME Senior field last weekend. When asked about the experience, Olivier responded, “I am very grateful for the opportunity that Italian Motors, IAME and Windsor Racing Academy had extended to me and I am pleased to learn some new tricks!” He hopes to extend this newly forged relationship with Italian Motors and participate in more big races in the future.
As this race season starts to wind down, Olivier will be attending the University of Windsor in the Mechanical Engineering program. It should be noted that this young man is fluent in both of Canada’s official languages: English and French, giving potential sponsors a competitive edge in his quest toward becoming a professional race car driver.
When asked about the weekend, Claudio Valiante said “We always like to give back to the sport. This is another one of those opportunities with the help of Windsor Karting Academy, Italian Motors and IAME that we can offer young drivers. Olivier did a great job during the weekend and he has a bright future. We look forward to welcoming the next IAME Cup Champion in 2012.
